Light: Bright light with morning sun and afternoon shade in Phoenix; acclimate gradually to direct sun and protect from intense reflected heat.
Water: Low water; water thoroughly only after soil dries completely. Reduce watering in winter and during extreme summer heat if growth slows; never keep roots wet.
Soil: Very fast-draining cactus mix with abundant pumice, gravel, or coarse grit. Use containers with drainage holes or raised beds; avoid moisture-retentive soil.
Mature size: Typically 1–2 feet tall and wide, forming irregular clumps over time.
Bloom: Occasional late-spring to summer flowers on mature plants; flowering is uncommon in cultivation.
