Phalaenopsis (white-flowered cultivar)
Light: Bright, indirect light; an east-facing window or filtered south-facing window is ideal. Protect from direct Phoenix sun.
Water: Water thoroughly with room-temperature water when the potting mix is nearly dry, then drain completely. Never leave standing in water or allow water to collect in the crown. Avoid ice cubes.
Soil: Airy, fast-draining orchid bark mix, optionally blended with sphagnum moss and perlite. Use a container with drainage holes; avoid ordinary potting soil.
Mature size: Typically 12–24 inches wide, with flowering spikes reaching 18–36 inches tall; miniature cultivars remain smaller.
Bloom: Usually blooms annually, often from late winter into spring; individual flower displays can last 2–4 months. Mildly cooler autumn nights can encourage new flower spikes.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen.
Growth rate: Slow to moderate; typically produces a few new leaves annually under good conditions.
