Light: Full sun; tolerates light afternoon shade, but flowers best with abundant sunlight.
Water: Very low water once established. Water occasionally during establishment, allowing soil to dry between waterings. In Phoenix, occasional deep watering during prolonged drought can extend flowering; avoid frequent irrigation.
Soil: Very well-drained sandy, gravelly, or rocky soil. Tolerates alkaline and nutrient-poor soils; avoid heavy, wet soil and rich amendments.
Mature size: 12–24 inches tall in flower and 12–24 inches wide.
Bloom: Primarily spring through fall, often in flushes following rain; may bloom intermittently through mild Phoenix winters.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen to semi-evergreen in Phoenix; foliage may thin during severe drought or cold.
Growth rate: Fast; can flower during its first growing season.
