Light: Full morning sun with afternoon shade preferred in Phoenix; protect young trees from intense western exposure and reflected heat.
Water: Moderate to high water needs in Phoenix. Water deeply, allowing the upper few inches of soil to dry slightly between irrigations; increase frequency during extreme heat and fruit development. Reduce watering in winter.
Soil: Well-drained soil enriched with compost; slightly acidic to neutral preferred. Tolerates some alkalinity but may develop nutrient deficiencies. Mulch the root zone, keeping mulch away from the trunk.
Mature size: Typically 10–20 feet tall and 10–15 feet wide; can be maintained at 6–10 feet with pruning.
Bloom: Primarily spring through summer, sometimes in additional flushes during warm weather.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen in frost-free conditions; may lose leaves or suffer stem dieback during Phoenix freezes.
