Light: Full sun for best flowering; tolerates light afternoon shade in Phoenix, especially near heat-reflecting walls.
Water: Low to moderate water once established. Water deeply, then let the upper several inches of soil dry; provide additional irrigation during extreme summer heat. Containers need more frequent watering.
Soil: Well-drained sandy, gravelly, or loamy soil; tolerates alkaline soil. Avoid persistently wet soil and poorly drained clay.
Mature size: Typically about 1–2 feet tall and 2–3 feet wide; may grow larger with a long frost-free season.
Bloom: Repeated blooms from spring through fall; flowering may continue into winter in frost-free locations.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen in frost-free conditions; may become semi-evergreen or lose foliage and suffer stem dieback during Phoenix freezes.
Growth rate: Fast during warm weather.
