Light: Morning sun with afternoon shade; avoid reflected heat from west-facing walls and pavement.

Water: Moderate to high water needs in Phoenix. Water deeply when the top 1–2 inches of soil begin to dry, keeping the root zone evenly moist but not soggy. Containers may need daily watering during extreme summer heat; reduce watering in winter.

Soil: Fertile, organically enriched, well-drained soil; slightly acidic soil is preferred. Mulch to conserve moisture, keeping mulch away from the trunk.

Mature size: Typically 6–10 feet tall and 4–8 feet wide when grown as a landscape tree; size varies with cultivar, pruning, and frost exposure.

Bloom: Repeated blooms from spring through fall; flowering may slow during extreme summer heat and winter cold.

Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen in frost-free conditions; may lose leaves during cold weather or other stress.

Growth rate: Moderate to fast with warmth, adequate moisture, and regular feeding.
