Leucophyllum frutescens 'Green Cloud'
Light: Full sun; at least 6–8 hours daily for dense growth and abundant flowering.
Water: Low water once established. Water deeply, then allow soil to dry thoroughly; established plants may need irrigation every 2–3 weeks during prolonged Phoenix summer drought. Water newly planted shrubs more frequently while roots establish; reduce watering substantially in winter.
Soil: Well-drained sandy, gravelly, or rocky soil; tolerates alkaline desert soils. Avoid persistently wet soil and heavy organic amendments.
Mature size: 6–8 feet tall and wide, occasionally larger under favorable conditions.
Bloom: Repeated bursts from late spring through fall, especially during humid monsoon weather and after rain.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen in Phoenix; may thin or shed some leaves during cold weather or severe drought.
Growth rate: Moderate to fast with establishment irrigation; slower under very dry conditions.
