Agave angustifolia 'Marginata'
Light: Full sun to light shade; afternoon shade helps prevent scorching in Phoenix, especially on newly planted specimens.
Water: Low water once established. Water deeply, then let soil dry thoroughly; occasional summer irrigation improves appearance. Reduce watering greatly in winter.
Soil: Very well-drained sandy, gravelly, or rocky soil. In heavy soil, plant on a raised mound; use a gritty cactus mix in containers.
Mature size: 3–4 feet tall and 4–5 feet wide per rosette; offsetting colonies can spread wider.
Bloom: Blooms once at maturity, usually after 10 or more years, depending on growing conditions. The flowering rosette dies afterward, leaving offsets.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen.
Growth rate: Moderate in warm weather with occasional irrigation; slower under very dry conditions.
