Light: Full sun to light shade; afternoon shade is beneficial in Phoenix, especially near heat-reflecting walls. Acclimate gradually to direct sun.
Water: Low water; water deeply, then let soil dry completely. Provide occasional irrigation during hot, dry weather; keep nearly dry in winter.
Soil: Very well-drained, gritty or gravelly soil. Avoid heavy, poorly drained clay and moisture-retentive potting mixes.
Mature size: Typically 2–3 feet tall and 2–3 feet wide; older clumps may spread farther.
Bloom: Primarily spring to early summer, with occasional repeat flowering during warm weather.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen succulent.
Growth rate: Moderate with warm-season water; slower under very dry conditions.
