Water: Deep, regular irrigation; allow the upper few inches of soil to dry between waterings. Water more frequently during extreme summer heat and establishment, less in winter. Expand the irrigated area as the canopy grows and keep the trunk dry.
Soil: Well-drained soil; sandy loam is ideal. Tolerates Phoenix’s alkaline soils with appropriate citrus nutrition. Avoid standing water, saline conditions, and planting the root crown below grade.
Mature size: Typically 12–15 feet tall and wide; may reach 20 feet on vigorous rootstock. Dwarfing rootstocks and pruning can maintain a smaller tree.
Bloom: Fragrant flowers primarily in late winter through spring; fruit generally ripens in winter into early spring, depending on local conditions.
