Trachelospermum jasminoides
Light: Morning sun with afternoon shade in Phoenix; protect from intense western sun and reflected heat. Bright filtered shade also works, but may reduce flowering.
Water: Moderate water; irrigate deeply when the top 1–2 inches of soil dry. Water more frequently during extreme summer heat and establishment, and reduce watering in winter. Avoid soggy soil.
Soil: Well-drained soil enriched with compost; prefers slightly acidic to neutral conditions. Phoenix’s alkaline soils may cause iron deficiency.
Mature size: Typically maintained at 3–5 feet tall and wide as a bush; unrestrained vines can climb 15–20 feet or more with support.
Bloom: Mainly spring to early summer, with occasional lighter repeat flowering in favorable conditions.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen; foliage may bronze in cool weather.
Growth rate: Moderate once established; slower during establishment or under heat stress.
