Water: Moderate water; irrigate deeply when the upper few inches of soil dry. Water more frequently during extreme summer heat and establishment, less in winter.
Soil: Well-drained soil enriched with compost; tolerates sandy or loamy soils but dislikes prolonged saturation.
Mature size: Typically 10–15 feet tall and 8–12 feet wide in frost-protected locations; pruning or winter damage may keep it smaller.
Bloom: Late spring through fall, often in repeated flushes; flowering slows during cold weather.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen in frost-free conditions; may lose leaves or die back during Zone 9b freezes.
