Light: Full sun for best flowering; tolerates light shade, including afternoon shade in Phoenix.

Soil: Well-drained sandy, gravelly, or rocky soil; tolerates alkaline desert soils. Avoid persistently wet soil and poorly drained clay.

Mature size: Foliage clumps typically 3–4 feet tall and 3–5 feet wide; flower stalks reach 5–8 feet.

Bloom: Primarily spring through fall in Phoenix, with the heaviest flowering in spring and early summer; flowers repeatedly without dying afterward.
