Light: Full sun for best fruiting; in Phoenix, provide relief from intense western afternoon sun, especially for young trees.
Water: Deep, regular irrigation during active growth and fruit development; increase frequency during extreme summer heat. Let the upper few inches of soil dry between waterings, and reduce watering during winter dormancy.
Soil: Deep, well-drained loam preferred. Tolerates other textures if drainage is good; Phoenix’s alkaline soils may cause nutrient deficiencies. Keep mulch away from the trunk.
Mature size: Approximately 15–20 feet tall and wide on standard rootstock; smaller on dwarfing rootstock or with regular size-control pruning.
