Care Instructions

Light: Full sun for best flowering; light afternoon shade can reduce stress in Phoenix. Avoid intense reflected heat from west-facing walls.

Water: Moderate water in Phoenix; water deeply throughout the root zone, allowing the upper several inches of soil to dry between irrigations. Newly planted trees need more frequent watering; established trees need supplemental summer irrigation for strong flowering.

Soil: Well-drained soil; tolerates clay, loam, and sand. Phoenix’s highly alkaline soils may cause iron chlorosis. Mulch the root zone, keeping mulch away from the trunk.

Mature size: Typically 20–30 feet tall and 15–25 feet wide.

Bloom: White flower clusters from late spring through summer, sometimes continuing into early fall with adequate water.

Evergreen / deciduous: Deciduous.

Growth rate: Moderate to fast with adequate irrigation.
