Water: Low water once established. Water deeply, then allow soil to dry substantially between irrigations. Water more frequently during establishment and extreme summer heat; avoid constantly wet soil.
Soil: Well-drained sandy, loamy, or gravelly soil; tolerates alkaline conditions. Improve drainage in heavy clay or caliche-restricted planting areas.
Mature size: Typically 4–6 feet tall and wide; may reach 6–8 feet if left unpruned under favorable conditions.
Bloom: Usually does not flower; rare, inconspicuous blooms may appear in spring.
