Light: Full sun to partial shade; afternoon shade is beneficial in Phoenix. Avoid intense reflected heat from walls and pavement.
Water: Moderate water; irrigate deeply, then allow the upper few inches of soil to dry. Water more frequently during establishment and extreme summer heat, especially in containers.
Soil: Well-drained soil; tolerates several soil types. Mulch the root zone, keeping mulch away from the trunk.
Mature size: Typically 6–10 feet tall and 4–6 feet wide if left untrimmed; cone topiaries can be maintained smaller with regular pruning.
Bloom: Late spring to early summer; frequent shearing may reduce or prevent flowering.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen.
Growth rate: Moderate, faster with adequate irrigation and favorable conditions.
