Care Instructions

Light: Full sun preferred; tolerates light shade, but flowering may decrease.

Water: Low water once established. Water deeply, then let soil dry between waterings. Occasional supplemental irrigation during prolonged Phoenix summer heat supports growth and flowering; water newly planted specimens more regularly while roots establish.

Soil: Well-drained sandy, gravelly, or rocky soil; tolerates alkaline desert soils. Avoid persistently wet soil.

Mature size: Foliage clump about 3–4 feet tall and 3–5 feet wide; flower stalks typically reach 5–6 feet tall.

Bloom: Primarily spring through summer, sometimes continuing into fall in Phoenix. Blooms repeatedly over its lifetime; flowering does not kill the plant.

Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen.

Growth rate: Slow to moderate; faster with occasional deep watering.
