Water: Low water once established. Water deeply and allow soil to dry between waterings; occasional supplemental summer irrigation improves appearance and growth. Water more regularly during establishment and sparingly in winter.

Soil: Well-drained sandy, gravelly, or rocky soil; tolerates alkaline desert soils. Avoid persistently wet soil.

Mature size: Typically 6–8 feet tall and 6–10 feet wide, with flower stalks reaching 12–15 feet.

Bloom: Late spring through summer on established plants. May take several years to first flower; flowering does not kill the plant.
