Water: Water deeply when the upper 2–3 inches of soil dry during warm-season growth. Containers may need frequent summer watering, but never leave roots soggy. Reduce watering substantially in cool weather.
Soil: Well-drained, organically enriched soil or cactus mix amended with pumice or perlite. Avoid heavy clay, standing water, and excessive salt buildup.
