Juniperus procumbens 'Nana'
Light: Morning sun with afternoon shade in Phoenix; tolerates full sun in milder climates. Avoid reflected heat from west-facing walls and pavement.
Water: Water deeply during establishment, allowing the upper soil to dry between waterings. Once established, irrigate infrequently but provide supplemental water during prolonged Phoenix summer heat; avoid constantly wet roots.
Soil: Very well-drained sandy or gravelly soil. Tolerates mildly alkaline conditions; use a raised bed or berm where drainage is poor.
Mature size: 6–12 inches tall and 4–6 feet wide, occasionally spreading farther with age.
Bloom: Produces inconspicuous reproductive cones rather than flowers; berry-like seed cones are uncommon on this cultivar.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen.
Growth rate: Slow.
