Agave potatorum
Light: Morning sun with afternoon shade in Phoenix; protect from intense reflected heat and acclimate gradually to stronger sun.
Water: Low water once established. Water deeply, then allow soil to dry completely; provide occasional supplemental water during hot, dry weather and water sparingly in winter.
Soil: Very well-drained, gritty or gravelly soil. Plant slightly elevated in heavy soil; use a fast-draining cactus mix in containers.
Mature size: Typically 1–2 feet tall and 2–3 feet wide, excluding the flower stalk.
Bloom: Blooms once at maturity, often after 10–20 years or longer. The flowering rosette dies afterward; offsets, if present, survive.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen.
Growth rate: Slow.
