Light: Morning sun with afternoon shade; bright filtered light during extreme summer heat. Avoid exposed west-facing locations and reflected heat.
Water: Moderate to high water needs in Phoenix. Water deeply when the top 1–2 inches of soil begin to dry; containers may need daily watering during extreme heat. Avoid soggy soil and standing water.
Soil: Rich, well-drained soil amended with compost; slightly acidic soil is preferred. Use a quality, freely draining potting mix for containers and mulch the root zone without covering the stem.
