Light: Full sun; allow ample space and air circulation.
Water: Low water once established. Water deeply during establishment, then allow soil to dry between irrigations. Established trees benefit from occasional deep irrigation during prolonged Phoenix summer heat; avoid frequent shallow watering.
Soil: Well-drained sandy, gravelly, or loamy soil; tolerates alkaline conditions. Avoid waterlogged soil and poorly drained, compacted clay.
Mature size: Typically 40–60 feet tall and 15–25 feet wide; size varies with growing conditions and cultivar.
Bloom: Produces pollen cones in late winter to early spring; does not produce true flowers.
