Pinus halepensis
Light: Full sun.
Water: Low to moderate water once established. Water deeply and infrequently, allowing soil to dry between irrigations. In Phoenix, provide supplemental deep watering during prolonged hot, dry periods; irrigate broadly beneath and beyond the canopy rather than against the trunk.
Soil: Well-drained sandy, loamy, or rocky soil; tolerates alkaline and calcareous soils. Avoid waterlogged soil and poorly drained planting sites.
Mature size: 40–60 feet tall and 30–50 feet wide; occasionally larger under favorable conditions.
Bloom: No true flowers; produces pollen cones and seed cones, generally in spring. Seed cones mature over approximately two years.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen.
Growth rate: Moderate to fast with adequate moisture; slower under dry conditions.
