Care Instructions

Light: Morning sun with afternoon shade in Phoenix. Protect from intense reflected heat and harsh summer afternoon sun, which can scorch the cream-colored margins.

Water: Low water once established. Water deeply, then allow soil to dry thoroughly; provide occasional supplemental irrigation during prolonged summer heat. Water sparingly in winter.

Soil: Very well-drained, gritty or gravelly soil. Use raised planting areas or containers with drainage holes where native soil drains poorly.

Mature size: Typically 2–3 feet tall and 3–4 feet wide; potentially larger under favorable conditions.

Bloom: Blooms once at maturity, usually after many years; timing varies with growing conditions. The flowering rosette dies afterward, but any offsets survive.

Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen.

Growth rate: Slow to moderate, depending on warmth, irrigation, and growing conditions.
