Salvia rosmarinus 'Barbeque' (syn. Rosmarinus officinalis 'Barbeque')
Light: Full sun; light afternoon shade is beneficial in Phoenix’s hottest exposures. Avoid intense reflected heat from west-facing walls.
Water: Low water once established. Water deeply, then let the soil dry substantially before watering again. New plants and containers need more frequent watering, especially during summer.
Soil: Very well-drained sandy or gravelly soil; tolerates alkaline conditions. Use raised beds or containers where heavy clay or caliche prevents drainage.
Mature size: Approximately 4–6 feet tall and 2–4 feet wide.
Bloom: Primarily late winter through spring in Phoenix, with occasional flowers during other mild periods.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen.
Growth rate: Moderate; faster with good drainage and appropriate irrigation.
