Care Instructions

Light: Full sun with at least 6–8 hours daily; light afternoon shade can reduce fruit sunburn in Phoenix. Avoid hot west-facing walls.

Water: Deep, regular irrigation during active growth and fruit development. In summer, check soil frequently and water when the upper few inches dry; avoid prolonged drought or soggy soil. Reduce watering substantially during winter dormancy.

Soil: Deep, well-drained loam or sandy loam preferred. Tolerates moderately alkaline soil, but high pH may cause iron deficiency. Mulch the root zone, keeping mulch away from the trunk.

Mature size: Can extend 15–20 feet or more along a support; maintain desired height and spread with annual pruning and training.

Bloom: Small flowers appear in spring; grapes generally ripen in early summer in Phoenix, with timing dependent on weather and growing conditions.

Evergreen / deciduous: Deciduous.

Growth rate: Fast once established.
