Care Instructions

Light: Morning sun with afternoon shade in Phoenix; protect from intense reflected heat and hot western exposure.

Water: Water deeply when the upper 2–3 inches of soil begin to dry. Maintain reasonably consistent moisture during flowering and fruiting; containers need frequent checks during summer. Avoid soggy soil.

Soil: Well-drained, organically enriched soil, ideally slightly acidic. Phoenix’s alkaline soils can cause nutrient deficiencies; a container with a well-draining citrus mix offers better control.

Mature size: Typically 6–10 feet tall and 4–8 feet wide in cultivation; may grow larger in favorable conditions. Easily maintained smaller in containers.

Bloom: Primarily late winter through spring, with occasional repeat flowering in warm conditions.

Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen; may shed leaves under cold, drought, or heat stress.

Growth rate: Slow to moderate, depending on rootstock, temperature, and growing conditions.
