Agave titanota
Light: Morning sun with afternoon shade is best in Phoenix; reflected heat and intense summer afternoon sun can scorch leaves. Acclimate gradually to stronger light.
Water: Low water once established. Water deeply, then let the root zone dry completely; occasional summer irrigation supports growth. Water containers more often than in-ground plants, and keep nearly dry during cool winter weather.
Soil: Exceptionally well-drained, gritty or gravelly soil. Plant on a raised mound in heavy soil; use a mineral-rich cactus mix in containers with drainage holes.
Mature size: Typically 1–2 feet tall and 2–3 feet wide, excluding the flower stalk; size varies by form and growing conditions.
Bloom: Blooms once at maturity, usually after many years or decades. The flowering rosette dies afterward; any offsets can continue growing.
Evergreen / deciduous: Evergreen.
Growth rate: Slow.
